We will keep you
updated on the
return trip.
We have the same
crew heading back.
Baz and Ben - DMR
Wez - Lamattina
Foz - Read
Andrew - Stamatis
We left the race
track on Sunday
morning. We stopped
several times as the
drivers were all
very tired from the
race meeting. We had
breakfast at
Merkering, fuel at
Yellowdine, Checkup
at Noresman and lots
more breaks once it
started to get dark.
We stopped at in the
middle of WA last
night.
We had an issue on
the DMR trailer when
2 trailer wheel
studs broke which
caused the wheel to
come loose. Luckily
we found the problem
before the wheel
came off when we
stopped at
Yellowdine for fuel.
It took us an hour
to get it all fixed
up.
We caught up with
Bob Shepherd at last
night. He told us
some stories from
his trip on the way
over and I think we
need to tell some.
*He started noticing
a few noises coming
out of the old Benz.
He said it was a
pretty easy fix...
he removed his
hearing aid.
*On the way over he
decided he needed to
stand up and have a
stretch while
driving. When he did
he accidently hit
the steering wheel
raise/lower button
and the steering
wheel fell to the
floor and he
couldn't get it back
up. He said it was
one of the most
frightening
experiences of his
life.
This morning we
assisted some French
backpackers who's
car had developed a
bad engine knock. As
you can imagine 4
truck drivers trying
to diagnose the
problem was quite
funny. We had
everything in
pieces. We traced it
to a problem with
the #4 exhaust
valve. Im not going
to give away how we
fixed it but lets
say the four
cylinder in now a
three cylinder.
We are now at the WA/SA
border.
Check back tonight
for another update.
