With names such as Senna, Schumacher, Brock and Lowndes having graced the world famous front straightaway throughout the years, none have transferred as much power to the track as the Mildura Missile in his 8,000 horsepower AEG Powertools express.
Almost every V8 Supercar team member and drivers flocked to the pitwall to experience the unique feeling of a Top Fuel dragster in full flight throughout the two demonstration runs.
The nitro noise reverberated around the City of Churches, giving AEG Powertools and the team a great chance to connect with the Clipsal 500 faithful, in all, over 5,000 people registering their details at the DMR static display across the weekend – which included the world-first DMR Top Fuel simulator.
Aside from adding to the entertainment extravaganza that is the Clipsal 500, the display carried a very important message – the promotion of the upcoming ANDRA Pro Series event at Adelaide International Raceway across the weekend of April 13-15.
The Pro Series 1000 will mark not only the fourth round of the Australian Top Fuel Championship – but the first time ever that an ANDRA Pro Series event will be conducted over a distance shorter than a quarter-mile, it also heralds a long awaited return to Adelaide for professional drag racing.
“The Clipsal 500 is one of the best events in Australia, not just motorsport related,” said Morgan. “We love it every year and to get the chance to launch the car on the main straight in Adelaide was something else.
“Some pretty famous names have charged down that straight over the years, so it was a big moment for me and the team.”
As for racing in Adelaide again?
“Being based in Mildura, Adelaide’s basically a home race for us. ANDRA seems to have steadied the ship and are making huge inroads into new markets for the sport.
“The recent Calder Park event was a great test for the Pro Series 1000 and it would be a fantastic achievement if we could walk away from the first ever 1000 foot (300m) ANDRA Pro Series event holding the winner’s trophy.”
DMR would like to thank their major sponsors AEG Powertools, Shannons Insurance and Kennards Hire along with their many associate partners.
The Pro Series 1000 will be held at Adelaide International Raceway across the weekend of April 13-15, with the feature category – Top Fuel – being joined by Pro Stock, Top Alcohol and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
