After setting their quickest pass of the season so far during qualifying for the Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway Darren Morgan Racing (DMR) entered Eliminations among the favourites for the title but it wasn’t to be as the AEG Dragster was knocked out in the Semi Finals by eventual winner Mark Mariani.

After being knocked out in the semi finals at the previous round of the Top Fuel Championship Mildura’s Darren Morgan will be looking to progress a little further this weekend as Darren Morgan racing (DMR) heads to Sydney to contest the 2010 Nitro Champs (April 30 to May 2). With the Nitro Champs being one of the biggest events on the ANDRA Pro Series calendar DMR are keen to put on a show as they run the AEG Powertools colours at the Western Sydney Dragway for the first time.

Last weekend Victorian Darren Morgan emerged from the ENZED Australian Top Fuel Championship at Willowbank raceway with a semi final performance after the AEG Powertools dragster was knocked out of eliminations by the fastest run of the year so far. After a very encouraging qualifying effort the team came up just a little short but the entire DMR outfit were happy with the data that was collected and they plan to step it up at the next round in Sydney later this month.

Darren Morgan Racing (DMR) have continued their tradition of being known as the ‘Bling’ team in ANDRA Drag Racing with the Mildura based outfit unveiling a striking new look for this weekends ENZED Australian Top Fuel Championships at the Willowbank Raceway. For the first time in the Team’s history, which dates back to 2007, the teams one piece carbon fibre body has been painted in a colour other than black, with the car now carrying the bright orange corporate colours of new sponsor AEG Powertools.

Mildura’s Darren Morgan was back in the seat of his Shannon’s Top Fuel Dragster over Easter (Saturday April 3) completing a series of test passes at The Edge Hotel / Motel Easter Shootout at the Sunset Strip in Mildura. During his successful outing Darren reset the unofficial track record to 3.39 seconds at 224 mph, becoming the first driver to complete a 200 mph pass at the track along with recording the fastest ever 1/8 mile track pass in Australian Drag Racing history.

With three rounds remaining in the ANDRA Pro Series Top Fuel Championship Mildura based racer Darren Morgan will take the opportunity to test some new components on his Shannon’s Insurance dragster at the upcoming Edge Motel Easter Shootout on Saturday April 3. The event will be staged in Morgan’s home town at the 1/8 mile Mildura Sunset Strip so it will provide the chance for his local sponsors and fans to witness the 7,000 horsepower machine in action on home turf.

Following the rain out at the Summer Nationals the Darren Morgan Racing (DMR) Shannon’s Top Fuel Dragster and the entire Team headed off on a hectic promotional tour which included events in two States that don’t currently posses a regular competition ¼ mile Drag Strip. The first of the two motor shows that the team visited was the Motorvate Melbourne Car Show while the second was a week later in South Australia when they headlined the Port Augusta Motor Show.

After travelling across the Hay Plains on Wednesday night the Darren Morgan Racing (DMR) Top Fuel outfit were pumped and ready for a strong result in Sydney at the 2010 Summer Nationals but it wasn’t to be as the only winner last weekend was the rain. Following the announcement the week prior of the partnership between DMR and Shannon’s Insurance as the primary sponsor the Mildura based team were set to put on a strong showing for fans in Sydney but now they will have to wait until the next round of the ANDRA Pro Series on April 17/18 at Queensland’s Willowbank Raceway.
