Defending Champs Looking to Step Up

After being knocked out in the semi finals at the previous round of the Top Fuel Championship Mildura’s Darren Morgan will be looking to progress a little further this weekend as Darren Morgan racing (DMR) heads to Sydney to contest the 2010 Nitro Champs (April 30 to May 2). With the Nitro Champs being one of the biggest events on the ANDRA Pro Series calendar DMR are keen to put on a show as they run the AEG Powertools colours at the Western Sydney Dragway for the first time.

This time last year DMR was on a high after winning the corresponding event and in the process securing their maiden victory and more importantly Darren’s first victory as a Team Owner.

DMR will go into the event with a great deal of confidence after running a number of stout passes during the last event, running well into the 4.7 second zone. But Team Driver and Owner Darren Morgan believes that they will have to step it up even more if they are to defend the title they won last year. “We will be making some changes to the car’s setup to get into the 4.6 second zone and maybe even 4.5 second zone. We were very happy with the car at the last event, we made 3 strong 4.7 second passes and we were disappointed that we didn’t go further in the event”.

As well as a great deal of confidence the team will also go into the Nitro Champs better prepared than ever before with the largest array of spares the team has carried to an event this year. Car Chief Ben Patterson mentioned that that they will have four engines ready to go for the Sydney event which is the most that they have had for the entire season.

After debuting with AEG Powertools on the Brad Hadman constructed Top Fueler at the Australian Top Fuel Championships three weeks ago DMR is proud to announce that AEG have signed up for an additional 2 events, including the 2010 Winter Nationals and the Australian Nationals, the opening event of the 2010/11 season.

“We really must thank AEG for signing up for the two extra events. During the week we have made further changes to the paint scheme for this event at their request so it will stand out even more. We are really looking to consistently run in the 4.6 second zone this weekend and at the Winter Nationals to finish the season off strongly so we will be ready for next season” added Darren.

AEG are suppliers of high quality power tools with a commitment to product development and innovation since 1898. Since their inception AEG POWERTOOLS have been leading the way in new product development and they are credited with introducing powertools to the world more than 100 years ago. AEG products are available from all Bunnings Warehouse outlets, which are located right throughout Australia. AEG ‘When You Mean Business’.

In what has become some what of a tradition the ANDRA Pro Series “Bling Team” will once again have another H2 Hummer from Victorian American Imports adding another impressive aspect to the show.

In attempt to stand out from the other competitors DMR will also be hosting a large corporate facility at this event. DMR would also like to thank their many sponsors, including AEG Powertools, LENCIA, Shannon’s, Victorian American Imports and ENZED, for the support that they have shown throughout the 2009/10 ANDRA Pro Series Season.

If you are unable to make it to the track DMR will have their media centre running all weekend. The website will have live streaming from the pit area, plus all DMR results will be uploaded after every pass and the gallery updated at the end of each day.
